Matthews Gallery is located at 669 Canyon Road, in the famed historic arts district that has been the epicenter of the Santa Fe art colony for over a century. The gallery represents prominent New Mexico artists, both historic and contemporary, and traces their diverse influences across the United States and Europe. The gallery’s robust exhibition program follows the journey of modernism, beginning with seminal European artists such as Picasso, Braque and Renoir, passing through New York and other notable East Coast art centers, and ending with pioneers of the Santa Fe, Taos and Albuquerque art colonies.

Recommended as one of Santa Fe’s leading galleries by Art & Auction, Travel and Leisure and Forbes, Matthews Gallery captures the spirit of Santa Fe’s artistic past within its historic adobe walls. Claude’s Bar, a fabled meeting place for mid-20th century bohemian artists, once stood across the street from the gallery, and the studios of influential local artists such as Alfred Morang, Olive Rush, Randall Davey and Los Cinco Pintores were nearby. The gallery captures the spirit of these artists through immersive exhibitions that feature rare masterworks with behind-the-scenes photographs, sketches, studio artifacts and other ephemera.

The gallery is owned and operated by Lawrence and Linda Matthews. They have over 15 years of experience in the fine art business, and assist collectors in building collections, valuation, and art asset cataloging and management.
